Church
and Secular History We live in an age when both church
and secular history are skewed, and many Below you will find a collection
of materials that attempt to set the record straight. This section of the Library is well worth
your study, because those who don’t learn the lessons or history are doomed
to repeat it. The adventure you are about to
embark on is a fantastic voyage into unknown and uncharted waters for most,
but necessary to understand where we have been. And where we have been shows us, more
importantly, where we as a species are going. At the top, you will generally
find works dealing with the more remote past, and, as we move to the bottom
of this page, we will find more recent history. Enjoy this exciting journey! This is the history book written

Origin of Medical Practice Historians have long assumed the origin of modern medical
practice occurred in the Fourth Century B.C.
HIPPOCRATES is the accepted Father
of Medicine. Students of medical history have
been taught that competent medical procedures — including anatomy, physiology, pharmacology,
surgery, and gynecology — are of comparatively recent development. History books disdainfully dismiss the

ancient medicine is in error! The widely-accepted theory
developed from the Historical Hypothesis, which stated authoritatively:
ANCIENT GREECE IS THE ORIGIN OF MODERN CIVILIZATION. All study was based on this premise;
history was warped to cover this structure. The History of Medicine was written to conform to the fallacious
theory! Few theological questions loom

history and shows how modern day Roman Catholicism derives its customs and
practices from ancient Here are the prophetic words of
this author, written more than a century ago, they are very chilling to read
today: “The Papacy is now in a better position for prosecuting its cherished
aim, which is to be the supreme arbiter in all international disputes. It
seeks, in short, to become President of a great European Council, in which
kings and nations shall await its decisions, and be pledged to carry out its
behests, peaceably if possible, by arms if necessary. From being the moral

the Religion of Moses? People assume that Judaism is
the religion of Moses -- that Jesus brought a message opposed
to the Old Testament -- that He came to nullify the teaching of Moses. It is taken for granted that the New

Judaism! Yet all these assumptions ARE ABSOLUTELY
FALSE! Shocking though it may seem, history

without parallel, to the magnitude of today's enterprises and worldwide

something never done before -- never done this way -- a seemingly impossible
achievement utterly unique in the world! By all the criteria of
organizational and institutional experience, it simply could never have
happened. Every phase of this
globe-girdling Work has been something altogether UNIQUE -- a first -- the
blazing of a new trail. Even though the Worldwide Church
of God, which Mr. Armstrong founded, has now gone terribly wrong, Mr.
Armstrong’s legacy lives on today, many years after his death, proving that
the gates of hell will not prevail against the spiritual organism that is

hosted by Garner Ted Armstrong This is the
story of what was set in motion that fateful morning. It is the story, at
once terrible and inspiring, of a church under siege; terrible because of an
infamous attack against the right of God‑fearing people to control
their own religious organization; inspiring because of how those people,
usually gentle and peaceable in the way they conduct their lives, rose in
defiance against those who would take from them the guarantee carved into the
very foundation stones of our country‑ And yet it is
even more. It is also a warning that no religious group in the country can
ignore. For Church (and I use that term in its broad meaning) and State are

Untold Recent History of the Worldwide Church of God This series of articles was
definitely not popular when I published it first in the Restoration Times in 1997.
But I believe that the articles and my comments at the time will be
instructive. Some of the original
material in this section has been lost, but what is left is very instructive,
and something we can all learn from. History of Side 1 Side 2 Herbert

important messages I have heard in years, and after listening to all of the
messages on this page on these topics, you will have to make up your own
mind. But these words of GTA, spoken
in 1979, now 26 years later, have an eerie, prophetic ring to them, if you
pay close attention. So just WHAT is
wrong with the church today, and just WHAT is the lesson God wants us to
learn? I think you will find it right

given on Aaron Dean’s account of events of that time, and what he
says was going through Mr. Armstrong’s mind at the time, as well as some
background material on other crises of the past that Mr. Dean personally
observed. Mr. Dean served Mr.

than any other man. He was Mr.
Armstrong’s last personal assistant, and was instrumental in getting his
final works written. This message
contrasts sharply with the one above. Herbert Armstrong Remembered, by Ronald L. Dart. This message gives Mr. Dart’s memories of
how things were in the “early days” of the church, contrasting them to the
“latter days.” Very instructive
indeed. Letter to a Divided Church, by Ronald L. Dart. Mr. Dart makes some very astute
observations on this very important subject for us today. There are lessons from all of this that God
wants us to learn. Here are a few of
them. To Kill a Church, by Ronald L. Dart. While Christ promised that His church would
endure throughout the ages, He gave no such promise to individual churches of
God down through the ages. Churches of
God have indeed died down through history, so we need to each strive so that
at whatever church we are attending doesn’t suffer that fate. Funeral Service of Garner Ted Armstrong The Recent History of God’s Church by M. John Allen. Mr. Allen comments on this massive amount
of material, and the lessons we must learn from it. Also included are important soundbites of both Herbert Armstrong and Garner Ted
Armstrong, discussing the main doctrines of God’s Truth,
and our personal commitment as Christians.
This material is invaluable, as it summarizes years of work and
history by both men. Mr. Allen also gives some additional history of these
troubled times, including his own personal observations of what was going on
